Cardboard Paul

Michelle Bourke

My passion for writing started not long after my late husband Paul passed away.

From writing my first book Conversations with Paul to travelling around the world with a cardboard cut-out of Paul,

my motivation to continue writing true life stories has deepened.

Vising Stonehenge

In 2017, Michelle had the privilege of visiting Stonehenge on her British tour.

Here is an excerpt from her book “Travelling with cardboard Paul”

I was really excited and looking forward to my visit to Stonehenge as I knew that by the time I had left there, I would have clarity of where I was going, my direction.

Visiting Stonehenge was a spiritual journey tapping into the energy. And it was building even before I arrived at this sacred place.

No words could describe this awesome experience.

I had seen a beautiful rainbow as we approached Stonehenge and knew that this was going to be extremely special and I was going to get the answers I was seeking from my guides. All was going to unfold here at this sacred site.

Louise & I stepped off the bus and arm in arm we walked up towards the bus that would take us to the stones. I had cardboard Paul tucked safely into his calico bag across my left shoulder.

As soon as I stepped onto the pathway, I was crying absolutely sobbing and I couldn’t stop, I cannot explain the emotion that overcame me. Louise and I just couldn’t put into words what we were experiencing but we came up with the feeling of nothingness, it described exactly what the energy was about, it was silent so quiet, so peaceful and tranquil as if time stood still, we had walked into another dimension, it was an amazing and life changing experience. By the time we stepped onto the bus that would take us up to the stones, we had composed ourselves and we just stood there with the others with high expectations and when we arrived at the stones, we were not disappointed. The energy in this place was surreal, quiet although there were crowds around us, and the wind and rain coming in sideways, we were in a totally different time and space. I had the feeling of coming home and felt sad but also happy. My heart was full with gratitude that I was able to come home again and know that I had walked here thousands of years ago as a druid. The flash backs started and I could see my fellow druids gathering around the fire.

We walked further around the stones trying to find a place that wasn’t too windy or crowded, so I could take cardboard Paul out for a photo opportunity. We found somewhat a less windy place although people were everywhere and getting in our way, but we were able to take a few photos of cardboard Paul and I standing in front of Stonehenge. I had to hold onto him super tight as the wind was so strong and the sleet rain coming in sideways, I was concerned that he would fly off.

My Spidey senses were tingling as we continued to walk around the stones and imaging back when the druids walked this part of the earth and I had a strong sense of belonging, being back home.
